Discovery

Interview

At the initial interview we’ve discussed the client’s goals, vision and conducted a short competitor analysis to explore opportunities.

The main goal was to build a professional portfolio that is personal, sets the client apart from competitors, and gives them confidence to present to potential client’s.

Hero Graphics

Ideation

To emphasize the clients focus on landscape photography and love for the Scottish Highlands. I decided to create a creative composition for the hero section using his photos to communicate these values.

The original photos

House in the highlands
Model on a foggy hill

Additional shooting

To make it personal I wanted to replace the model on the hill to the client standing on the hill with his camera.

For this I needed a photo of the client that matches the angle and lighting of the original photo. He was happy to meet up for a shoot and I took the shot i needed to finish the composition.

Photoshop

Next, I’ve masked and edited the images in Photoshop and added some fog and clouds to create a moody, dramatic composition that characterizes the Highlands.

Then, I exported a couple of versions of each layer with a transparent background to be able to and animate them in Webflow.

Animation

Webflow interactions

  • Imported layers into Webflow and arranged them on top of each other to recreate the composition.
  • Set up the interactions to make the clouds in the background and foreground move at different speeds on a timer for a 3D effect.
  • Set up a scroll triggered animations for each layer to create a sense of depth and movement (parallax)
